The conference underlined the importance of the practice of sport in improving people’s quality of life and the fundamental role of defining and developing quality sports and recreational facilities that are accessible to all.

During the closing address of the Conference, the Ibero-American Association for Sports and Recreational Facilities was founded (AIA-IDyR).
 

One of its main objectives is to foster the culture of sport and its values in society as a whole.

More than 40 speakers and around 180 delegates from 18 Ibero-American countries took part in the conference, which will be back in Barcelona once again in 2011 as part of Piscina BCN.
